Showing Up Isn’t Enough
A moment to reflect
Once upon a time, just showing up got you pretty far.
Be on time.
Keep the line moving.
Keep your head down.
Speak when necessary.
But that was then.
Today, showing up is just the ticket to the dance.
We live in a moment that demands more. The world is shifting faster and faster. Yes, leaders need to create healthy environments that enable people to thrive, but we are also responsible for being the change we wish to see in the world.
And it can’t happen if we only show up.
We need to dance.
As Billy Idol sang, sometimes it’s with ourselves, or it might be with others. Either way, we get to contribute something that shifts the energy in the room. To create a ripple that elevates and creates a better tomorrow for all of us, not just some of us.
Yes, we still need to show up but to create something memorable, it’s not enough. Ultimately, there’s a difference between attendance, doing a “lot of work,” and making a difference.
Until next week, have fun storming the castle!

Before every bike ride, I touch the helmet I was wearing when I got hit by that SUV. It’s a moment of gratitude that my TBI (traumatic brain injury) wasn’t worse than it was.
To honor Brain Injury Awareness Month, I’m hosting our next pop-up sale, and all the profits are going to LoveYourBrain. They show up and take intentional action to help TBI survivors build resilience through the power of community.
Our last pop-up sale for our Choose Compassion sweatshirt helped raise close to $5,000 for The California Fire Foundation, and I hope we can do the same for LoveYourBrain through our latest t-shirt, Choose Joy (available in black and white as shown below)
The sale ends on Friday, March 29th, and the FOMO is real.
