It’s Ok Not to Be Ok
Over the years, I’ve shared how my orthopedic health and even my vascular and neurologic wellness shifted on my Last Bad Day.
It was one moment that sparked a twenty-year chronic health challenge. My injuries have scarred over, but there’s always the potential for new cracks to surface.
What helps me avoid shoveling worry into my emotional backpack is talking about it and knowing the root cause of my trauma.
I wish we could be as open talking about our mental health challenges today – especially given the storm we all just sailed through.
During May’s National Mental Health Awareness Month, we recognize that it’s okay not to be okay and discover how we can end mental health shame, talk about the challenges, and better understand why people are hurting so much.
In many ways, I’m lucky because I know the cause of my trauma, but we still have so much to discover about what impacts our emotional and mental health. So I hope that as we raise awareness this month, we can also focus on changing some of the systemic root causes that lead to mental health challenges.
We have the power to do more than minimizing or eliminating stigma – we can support healing and create a better tomorrow for all of us.
During May on Clubhouse, I’m donating $0.50 to NAMI, The Trevor Project, and TWLOHA every time you show up to one of our five-minute Pause Breathe Reflect Meditations which occur four times per day.
If you are doing the math, this means that if you show up for all 120 sessions, you will spark a $60 donation. And that is pure awesome sauce.
I hope you will join us in creating a ripple of wellness.
This week’s video is all about my XC ride, lemonade, and one question that influences how you show up in the world.
Until next week, remember to Pause Breathe Reflect and have fun storming the castle!
p.s., If you wish to give Mom some PBR merch for Mother’s Day, please place your order by Tuesday to make sure you can give your Mom some calm next Sunday.
