Shift Tip: Predictions

It’s hard to make predictions, especially about the future.

Work from home won’t work

Social media is a fad – it won’t last

Any sales quota

When this kerfuffle will be over

The Bengals will be in Super Bowl (umm, Michael, nobody predicted this)

It is difficult to make predictions, especially about the future  – Danish proverb

We love to make predictions.

We do it all the time, and, well, folks, we’re not that good at them.

We capture data, build algorithms, and feed it into A.I. to predict downstream events. Often we’re wrong, but, oh, when we’re right, we believe we’re brilliant – which is a slippery slope to nowhere good.

Ah, we love to think that we humans are rational thinkers who are sometimes emotional, but the truth is, we’re emotional creatures who are occasionally logical. Hey, we are hard to predict.

Later today in The States, the Bengals and Rams face off in The Super Bowl. There will be many predictions from gurus about who will win, but only the players know what’s within their hearts, minds, and bodies.

So who will win? I don’t know, but here’s a thought – the team who stays in the moment and resists the urge to look up at the scoreboard. It’s like life except that we can’t win life; we can only live it one moment at a time.

So here’s my prediction: Bengals 24, Rams 21. Hey, it’s the Year of Tiger – that’s gotta be worth something, right? Well, that and orange is my favorite color.

Oh, and Eminem will start the halftime show with Lose Yourself, and tomorrow, after the game is over, the NFL has some dive-deep bias work in front of them that goes beyond performative inclusion.

Until next week, have fun storming the castle!
