Shift Tip: TKR with Adaptaversagility

Total Knee Replacement with Adaptaversagility

People hate to change.

I’m sure you’ve heard this once or twice in your life, and every time I hear it, I cringe because I don’t believe it.

If true, why do we get married, have babies, hold meetings, jump on our pelotons, diet, travel, relocate, or adopt pandemic pets that require surgery – just as an example, of course.

It’s not because we like the status quo – to be human is to change.

Now, it’s valid that we don’t dig change that we feel is happening to us. We prefer to be in control, even though the universe laughs when we think we can control things. But, hey, it’s a story that helps us feel safe.

So let’s take a moment to step back – perhaps it’s a moment to Pause Breathe Reflect and shift the story from hating change to not feeling safe when things get uncomfortable because it all boils down to fear.

So how do we solve that problem?

Great question – you can start with curiosity.

When curious, you can discover the strength to take on R.I.S.K. (Realizing I’m Strong and Knowledgeable), gain wisdom, and feel safer.

Here are ten questions that could help.

  1. What am I tolerating?
  2. What am I avoiding?
  3. What’s good on the other side of uncomfortable?
  4. Am I staying true to my vision and values?
  5. What kind of ripple do I wish to ripple?
  6. What feels unsafe about taking action?
  7. What can I say no to so I can say yes to my goals?
  8. What have I done in the past that I could use today?
  9. How is this moment happening for me, not to me?

And #10 is how I can develop more Adaptaversagility? Which is a $5 word coined by one of our Peloton members, Bobby Kountz.

I explain what it is and update you on my knee replacement journey in this week’s video.

And to all our pets in our Peloton, happy Pet Appreciation week! We love our fur babies. So to celebrate, we are holding a special pre-order sale for our new Paws Breathe Reflect gear that is guaranteed to send good energy down your leash.

Until next week, remember to Pause Breathe Reflect and have fun storming the castle!
