I am at the age…

I’m at the age…

where I know the difference between correlation and causation.

where I’m no longer willing to burn calories hoping to get a seat at someone’s table.

where I’m learning and unlearning at the same rate.

where I know if I don’t take care of my wellness, I will be forced to take time for my illness.

where I realize that it’s not just about the bottom-line.

where I see forgiveness as something I’m doing for myself.

where I know that not all the answers are within me.

where I’m suspicious of gurus and experts.

where good coffee is the price of admission.

where I realize that there isn’t just one way.

where I’m in the second half of life, and as Richard Rohr has shared,

“I no longer have to prove that I or my group is the best, that my ethnicity is superior, that my religion is the only one that God loves, or that my role and place in society deserves superior treatment. I am not preoccupied with collecting more goods and services. Quite simply, my desire and effort – every day – is to pay back, to give back to the world a bit of what I have received. I now realize that I have been gratuitously given to – from the universe, from society, and from God. I try now to live simply so that others can simply live.

What age are you at?

I would love to know.

Until next week, have fun storming the castle!

Michael

p.s., We have a nursing crisis. As Lydia Polgreen shared recently in The New York Times, nearly half of the nurses reported burnout (before the pandemic), and 1/4 were thinking about leaving the profession.

You might know that my mom was a nurse and understand that I’m not writing this today without the support and care of nurses.

Lydia’s post and all the support we received this week have inspired me to ripple support from where I sit.

I created my Pause Breathe and Reflect Meditation and Gratitude app for busy professionals to help others simply live with short practices.

If you are a nurse, I would like to gift the app to you. Click HERE if you are interested in receiving it.
